Trump's 100% tariffs on branded and patented pharmaceutical products, which were implemented on Friday, are his most recent setback to India. The most recent round of tariffs, which go into effect on October 1, 2025, will impact the US logistics industry, homeowners, and the cost of medications.

The emphasis on big trucks and pharmaceuticals coincides with 50% taxes on all Indian imports, which are in addition to the 10% basic import tax already applied to all imports into the Western country.

Donald Trump declared, "As of October 1st, 2025, we will be imposing a 100% Tariff on any branded or patented Pharmaceutical Product, unless a Company IS BUILDING their Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Plant in America," in his announcement of the Truth Social ruling. "IS BUILDING" shall be defined as "under construction" or "breaking ground." Therefore, if building has begun, there won't be any tariff on these pharmaceutical products.
